VIDEO: The must-play games that everyone should check out, circa 1982 Posted: 11 Apr 2011 02:30 PM PDT Enjoy this walk down memory lane fellow old-timers, and for you kids out there, yes, this is what how we blew off steam when we weren’t busy creating fire and fighting wooly mammoths. Some basic points: 1. I’m confident that the kid whose dad was the “video game technician” featured in the clip, provided if he had a child, was the king of his middle or high school. 2. I guess my assumption that games today are too complicated is b.s. since folks (well, the one news reporter) was saying the same exact thing about Robotron and the like. 3. Blowing shit up is considered a complex theme? Okay. 4. Remember: the penalty of failure is “video death.” 5. I do love how, as much of a square this the newscaster might appear, he still addressed the subject matter with zero amount of pretense or douchiness that most reporters automatically has to have whenever talking about video games. |
VIDEO: G-Form iPad case protects against 12-pound bowling ball Posted: 11 Apr 2011 02:00 PM PDT Anyone who’s owned an iPad knows the biggest fear in the world is that a 12-pound bowling ball could come flying out of the sky, land on the iPad, and break it. That’s just life. But thanks to the G-Form iPad case, that fear can be put to rest. Because this iPad case, as you’ll see below, protects against the weight and velocity and whatnot of a 12-pound bowling ball being dropped from three feet above. From what I gather, based on the video, this is possible because the material shapes itself upon impact. Obviously the bowling ball example is kind of pointless, unless you spend a lot of time in bowling alleys with your iPad. A better example is probably: dropping the iPad. Which is actually a fairly common concern and something that might make the G-Form work checking out. And at $59.95, it’s a pretty reasonable price. |
Cintia Dicker continues to impress in bikinis Posted: 11 Apr 2011 01:20 PM PDT I may have to subscribe to this catalog... Cintia Dicker is one of those Brazilian models who for some reason doesn’t get that much attention, despite the fact that she’s an SI Swimsuit regular. I called her underrated last year and these bikini pics she did for Aerie only further reinforce my belief that this girl needs more love. I guess when you’re competing with Alessandra, Adriana, Isabeli, Caroline, Gisele, Raica, Isabel, Emanuela, Daniela, Isabela, Gracie, and more, and you haven’t even left your own country yet it’s a wee bit hard to get noticed. |
VIDEO: Mortal Kombat guest stars that were never meant to be Posted: 11 Apr 2011 01:15 PM PDT Though if Mario & company, plus others famous game faces like Pac-Man and Arthur (from Ghosts & Goblins) were to make cameos, we at least have an idea of what it would look like... As silly as it sounds, at least the NBA Jam one is semi-plausible, given how they were both made my Midway back in the day. As a kid, I used to pray and hope for a MK/Wrestlemania, yet another semi-similar arcade classic from the mind 90s, also from the same developers. Though most of my fantasies surrounded around Scorpion vs. the Undertaker. Yup, I said it, the word “fantasies.” Though most fighting fanatics know that such dream matches are indeed possible via MUGEN, an open source fighting game editor that basically allows any kind of match possible. Unfortunately, Sub Zero vs. Mega Man & the block from Pong vs. Alf (seriously) are no longer available on YouTube, but here’s a not so bad replacement… Back to MK, hey, remember Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe? What the hell was that about… Hey, I still got my copy. Toad's Mortal Kombat Fatality Is A Bit Much [Kotaku] |
