Sonakshi’s first brush with Bollywood was when she designed costumes for her mothers first production venture MERA DIL LEKE DEKHO(2005). She walked the ramp as a model in 2008 for Lakme India Fashion Week. She again walked the ramp for Lakme India Fashion Week in 2009.
DABANGG(2010), produced by Arbaaz Khan is Sonakshi’s first movie on the silver screen. She stars opposite Bollywood superstar Salman Khan. DABANGG, which means fearless, claims to be a Hard-hitting, entertaining and emotional narrative. Sonakshi played the role of Rajo, a girl who changes the life of Chulbul Pandey (Salman Khan) with her positive behavior and her innocence. Rajo takes her life as it comes and is unswerving in taking care of her drunkard father. A very few actresses in Bollywood have scored a debut role of such magnitude and significance.
Sonakshi is in no hurry to take up more films. As her father, Shatrughan Sinha, is a respected political personality, she feels responsible towards her image in Bollywood. Sonakshi has already signed Arbaaz Khan’s next film, which is reportedly a sequel to DABANGG(2010).
