Fashion Rio 2011 took place last week. Coca Cola Clothing, Auslander, Redley and R.Groove are just a few of the labels that presented their F/W 2011 collections. Fashion Rio is definitely not as big a deal as the runway shows put on in Milan, Paris and New York, but still. Let's not forget our fr13ndz in Rio de Janeiro!
I actually liked the Auslander collection. "Liked," as in didn't mind. The collection wasn't completely exciting, but each piece was wearable and well-tailored. The women's outerwear and dresses looked like a higher-end version of A.P.C. It was neither horrible nor extraordinary. You can watch the runway show below:
Cole Mohr opened (sort of) and closed the show. His fake beard/mustache is odd.
Whaaaat.
I found this article on a blog called "Made in Brazil" that included a picture of Cole backstage at the Auslander show. The comments were horribly rude. I mean, this isn't such a heinous picture, is it?
Here is a brief overview of all the mean comments:
1. "What an extraordinarily unattractive young man."
2. "He looks like some inked up pothead from a middle school in New Jersey."
3. "This kid looks like a homeless drug addict."
4. "An English teenager with bad teeth?"
5. "The boy gives off strange vibes and looks like a junkie...and his hair looks really bad!"
6. "Who are the 'booker' who 'discover' him and what were he thinking? Maybe he was sharing a needle with him and thought it was a good idea to make fun with the fashionistas and everyone else involved in fashion. 'Let's put you in the market and see how far can fashion go to find exotic faces and new model trends.' Argh, he's discusting."
People are quite judgmental. And that last comment is insufferably incorrect, in both fact and grammar.
On a completely different note, there has been much buzz about the Oscars lately, even though the event itself is not happening until March. I found these parodies of each Oscar-nominated film acted out by little kids—there's The Social Network (cute kids in a law suit!), 127 Hours (cute kid about to cut off his arm!), The Fighter (cute kids boxing!), Black Swan (cute kids doing ballet!), and The King's Speech (cute kid trying to speak properly!). It's adorable. You can watch all of them HERE, but below are two of my favorites.
