| Each season of ‘The Wire’ is $12.99 on iTunes right now Posted: 16 Mar 2011 01:13 PM PDT You’ve probably seen “The Wire.” If you haven’t, stop whatever the hell you’re doing and go to iTunes right now (the link will open iTunes, btw) and download every single season of the show, because each season is $12.99 for a limited time. And, yeah, if you HAVE seen “The Wire,” you should probably head over there and download them anyway. Look, I agree with you — sometimes only having a television show available via iTunes is a pain in the ass. No one will dispute that. After all, you can’t watch it on your television unless you have an iPad 2, an Apple TV or a bunch of, ahem, wires. But $12.99? That’s a ridiculous steal. By comparison, the entire collection of “The Wire” at Best Buy will cost you $179.99. And each of the individual seasons at Best Buy will cost you $29.99. Note that both of those are not terrible prices. In fact, one could argue that’s pretty good value from the typical “season cost” of $49.99 or whatever. But $13 for the best television show in the history of television (that works out to like $1 an episode, which is half price from what you normally see on iTunes) is just ridiculous, folks. | President Obama picks Kansas to win national title Posted: 16 Mar 2011 12:30 PM PDT In what has become a yearly tradition of sorts, President Obama sat with ESPN’s Andy Katz to reveal his NCAA bracket. Oddly enough, the president chose the Kansas Jayhawks to win the national title….AGAIN. If you recall, he did the same thing last year and got burned when Rock-Chalk-Jayhawk dropped a deuce against the 9th seeded Northern Iowa Panthers. Here’s President Obama’s bracket in its entirety A quick breakdown of some of his upsets. #11 Marquette over #6 Xavier #12 Richmond over #5 Vanderbilt #10 Florida State over #7 Texas A&M #11 Gonzaga over #6 St. John’s #10 MSU over #7 UCLA So pretty straightforward on the President’s part. He has no team seeded higher than 5 making it to the Sweet 16 and he took all four #1 seeds to the Final Four. If Obama’s goal was to stay away from controversy and ride the fence, he certainly played that part to a ‘T’. Next year should be a lot more interesting though. With his 2012 re-election campaign going full force in March, will his political advisors tell him to choose schools from key swing states? Presidential elections the last few years have come down to just a few states here and there. An Ohio, a Florida, and maybe one southern state can essentially decide the whole damn thing. So if I’m a betting man, I’d guess that the Buckeyes and the Gators make prominent appearances in his bracket in 2012. That is, if Obama cares to be in office for another four years. |
