Hi, I've long been a user of Extensis Suitcase Fusion but found it to be problematic, and buggy - upon startup font sets that are supposed to be active are de-activated, halts shutdown as the App won't quit and has to be forced quit in order to continue shutdown etc.
Just wondered if anyone had any font management recommendations? I've never really tried the Mac OS native Font Book, so does anyone know if that's worth a look or if there's any other good third party options?

Frankie Sandford Short HaircutYes I agree. I have a thin logitech wireless backlit keyboard and its been on for 4 months and I haven't changed the battery. It is also charged via USB so it works even when it runs out of battery.
Now that would be a good suggestion for the next version of the apple wireless keyboard (I have the 3 battery version). Sure a USB "charging" port could be added to the back (now that the new version is already 2 battery / 1.5 inches space saved).
Apple is great with reducing component size (so sure such a charger would be cool).
PS is there an easy way to check the battery level within the bluetooth wireless keyboard from OS X (or is there no checking hardware within the keyboard)?
Frankie Sandford HandbagsTo be quite honest, Time Machine leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to error reporting when something goes wrong. I feel your frustration because I had the same problem a few months ago. I've found that looking at the console helps to determine what error occurred and then searching Google to see what the error means, and how to fix it. I think you can find the console in the utilities folder somewhere - can't exactly remember where it is.
My problem with Time Machine was that my disk permissions were screwed up and so it wasn't copying the files nessessary to complete the back up - it would just quit. I would check to see if those were set correctly by going into info and reseting them. Might help.
I'm still having no luck. How do I reset the disk permissions. I can see that they are set right, but I assume you mean something else by re-setting?
I have tried every troubleshooting article I can find and basically if I unmount the drive and reboot, the first backup will always run but subsequent ones will always fail.

Frankie Sandfordgnasher729 gave a great idea that would give you a command you could copy and paste to the terminal to see what's going on. I'll give an additional hint:
the & means something special to the shell. It means "run that command i just gave you in the background". You can quote parameters that might contain such a character, or escape it with \.

Nope. A pillow (by definition I believe) is a cushion, which a MBP is not. I guess you can say it qualified as a support.
Nothings stopping you from putting your head on it. I'm sure it could take the load, but i would recommend just getting one of those heat pads.
Or use it for spooning.

frankie sandford hairstyleI would suggest this could be the problem: when you reposition you are probably altering the distance between the lens and the subject somewhat.
Agree with robbie, with that shallow a DOF when you reposition if you're off a little the focus might change. Try using a DOF of 4 and see what happens. Your bokeh effect will obviously be different but you may have more consistent pictures. FWIW

Okay, so I've restored the drive to one partition, but now when i try to download the window support software I get an error message telling me "the support software is not available".
Surely it's not usually this difficult?
Oh - that's been a bug that's been around since they allowed for direct download. For some reason it simply doesn't work. You have to use the software located on your Snow Leopard disk. (Or disk 1 of the grey disks you got with your computer). You do this from the Windows side after you install XP. Note that the most recent models do not support XP because the component manufacturers didn't release drivers.
Surely someone had experienced this or a similar issue? Booked in at the genius bar on Friday but hoping someone could shed a light on it before then..

I do have a lens coat on my 400mm, and the greatest benefit for me is that it keeps my hands warmer in our cold Canadian winter since I'm not holding onto bare metal.
Down here, we have these things called gloves... :D
On a serious note, I find that the pre-shaped neoprene Kayaker's gloves work well, as well as everything else you might need to touch in the winter- I can operate my camera gear without removing them and shove them into a pair of mittens while I'm waiting around.
